Popular Kalenjin Musician, Diana Chemutai Musila, known simply as Chelele by friends, enthusiasts and fans, is to be buried at her home in Chepalungu constituency, Bomet county on Thursday January 21.
On January 9, the popular musician was found dead in the premise of her home, severely mutilated with deep cuts in her limbs and body.
The announcement of the burial had taken this long because the family of the bubbly musician had announced that plans for her burial was not to begin till Chelele’s little twin girls – Sasha and Tasha – who had gone missing following the report of the murder, were found safe and sound. The children had disappeared just before their mother was found dead in their compound.
Immediately after the report of her murder, the police began its investigations into the murder, and her husband, Eric Musila was arrested on Wednesday last week, followed by another arrest of a woman who used to be friends with Musila.
The children were trailed to a compound in Nairobi, where they had been held since few hours before their mother was so brutally murdered. Reports suggest that the twin girls had been taken by their father, before the murder.
The police, however, were quiet about whether it is proven that Musila had been the one with the children all the while they were declared missing.
Having found the twins, preparations are going on in earnest for the burial of the singer. More investigations are ongoing, and the detectives in charge of the case promise to turn something up as soon as possible. Family, friends and fans are invited for the burial at her home.
May her soul rest in peace!
