Cord leaders call on president Uhuru to arrest DP William Ruto for being involved in a “constant hate speech rally against the opposition leaders”.
Querying why the administration is being partial, the leaders said they want an explanation as to ‘why the Jubilee government applies selective justice’ on matters concerning hate remarks.
Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama said:
“We want an explanation of what “kukaranga mtu” (to fry someone) means if it is not hate speech. We might be forced to “fry” him (DP) first before he does it to us.”
The Opposition leaders spoke at Busia where they attended area woman representative Florence Mutua’s thanksgiving prayers at Butula Polytechnic.
Raila was also at the homecoming of Busia Woman Representative Florence Mutua – following her detention over alleged hate speech – in Butula.
Suna East MP Junet Mohamed accused Ruto and interior CS Joseph Nkaissery of plotting their arrest and detention. Mocking Ruto, the legislators sneered at his claims that those working with Raila are slaves and should be let loose. He added:
“Ruto is the one using Eurobond money to buy people with a purpose of destabilising the opposition.”
Raila Odinga, the coalition’s principal, warned police to desist from being manipulated by Jubilee government against his coalition. He hinted that Cord was only defending the rights of common citizens, who are being robbed economically through deep-rooted corruption
“The police should not be used like dogs to unleash terror on innocent people and leaders who are defending their rights.”
Raila added that the police reforms which were supposed to swing the force into action must be taken seriously. He advised the police to copy their counterparts in Tanzania and United Kingdom, who are friendly to wananchi unlike their own relationship with the public.
CORD leader Raila Odinga also said the Government has been hatching schemes to weaken the Opposition by compromising its members. Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire also expressed doubts over Ruto’s real faith, saying he is hiding in the Bible but his true religion remains a puzzle for all Kenyans. He said:
“Ruto escaped ICC by a miracle of God but this time we shall escort him there [to the Hague].”
Muthama urged Kenyans to vote Raila as the president so that he can change the constitution in favour of a rotational presidency. He said this was the only way to change the recent trend where a community is likely to rule for many years.
The senator said that if Raila takes over the presidency in 2017, the country shall know those behind mysterious killings of outspoken politicians since independence.
In other news, Raila also took a swipe at the national government for “blocking the success of devolution”. He regretted that only Sh675billion has been devolved to the county governments, a figure he said was a mere drop in the ocean yet the national government has
