Detectives have pinpointed over 20 people who would be invited for grilling over the Jacob Juma’s murder. So far, ten people, including the woman he was have been interrogated.
Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Ndegwa Muhoro in a statement revealed that all those who had been mentioned by Juma as having threatened him will face grilling.
When asked if Deputy President William Ruto would be grilled, he answered:
“There is nothing that will stop us from summoning or talking to anyone we deem as person of interest.”
Besides the woman, the people who had so far been questioned over the Jacob Juma’s murder which took place on include businessman Bryan Yongo, lawyer Ahmedinasir Abdulahi, a worker at Juma’s apartment, and a good number of his friends.
Detectives say they are yet to figure the motive of the killing even as officers from cybercrime unit are going through Juma’s personal messages in order to solve the jigsaw mystery surrounding the death of the wealthy businessman.
The DCI added that as yet, more than 27 officers had gone to examine the assumed scene of the murder, and two spent cartridges of an AK47 rifle which were recovered five days after the incident are currently being analysed by ballistic officers.
The Mercedes Benz that Juma was driving is also being analysed at the DCI headquarters.
The officers had also used IC3 Command Centre at Jogoo House where they viewed shots taken through the Automated Number Plate Recognition cameras and video clips from the intelligent video surveillance cameras to find out Juma’s last movements.
The footage shows that Juma left Westlands at about 7.34pm. He was later seen driving along Waiyaki Way towards the CBD with a female passenger.
Muhoro said his team is still piecing together the arising puzzles including criminal and civil suits which Juma was involved in as possible motives of the death.
“Every opinion is valid until it is unravel by substantial proof,” he said.
Juma was killed on May 15 along Ngong road by unknown people. The CID released the video of Juma’s last moments after demands by family members last week seeking to know how Jacob Juma’s murder was executed.
The family members had said they would employ private investigators to handle the case differently, referring to the police as incompetent. The official explanation so far is that Juma was shot after he was forced o× the road by gunmen.
But others say he could have been shot elsewhere and that the murder scene could have been stage managed.
