DP Ruto In Tears As His Beloved Younger Dies Of Treatable Illness


DP William Ruto is mourning his younger brother Harrison Kiptoo, who passed away at Nairobi hospital on Saturday night.

Kiptoo is said to have died from kidney failure and liver complications. His body left Lee Funeral Home to Eldoret on Sunday as the family of Ruto makes burial arrangements.

Mourners and other well wishers flooded into the family’s home in Kamagut, Uasin Gishu County, on Sunday, to console the family.

Some others sent in their condolences through text or public announcement. Cord leader Raila Odinga and his wife Ida sent their condolence to Ruto saying Kiptoo was well known to them. They also prayed for comfort and protection for the family.

President Uhuru Kenyatta described Kiptoo as a humble, kind and courageous man who was dedicated to his family, friends and country.

He said:

“In this hour of sorrow, I convey my sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, relatives and friends.”

Harrison Kiptoo will be laid to rest on Wednesday.

The family said Korir was never one to talk about illness and avoided being a burden to others.

Mr Samuel Ruto said of his brother who had in May received specialised treatment in India:

“Sometimes we would find medicine in his pockets and that is how we found out he was unwell. He would only talk about it when the situation was almost getting out of hand,”

After graduating from the university, the late father of two boys ventured into business.

Harrison Kiptoo is the last born in the family and he attended former Chebisaas Boys High School. His schoolmates at his former Chebisaas Boys High School said he always avoided trouble with the authorities.

He will be buried this Wednesday. In their compound sad and dark-coloured mood covered the environment.
