Hillary Clinton is being treated for Pneumonia, her campaign office has revealed.
A video showed Mrs Clinton collapsing as she abruptly left the September 11 memorial event at ground zero yesterday. The 68-year-old former secretary of state seemed to lose her footing as she was helped into her vehicle.
She was taken to her daughter’s home to get some rest. She emerged about two hours later wearing sunglasses and telling reporters that she was “feeling great.”
She did not answer particular questions about her health as she hopped into a van and left. Representatives said she headed to her home in Chappaqua, NY.
Her personal doctor, Dr. Lisa Bardack made the diagnosis two days prior to the event and advised Hillary to rest.
The superwoman within those two days has appeared at two fundraisers, held a 2-hour long national security meeting and sat for a CNN interview.
This incident has sparked fresh speculation about the health of the Democratic party’s presidential candidate with just eight weeks to election day.
Her campaign office described her as feeling ”overheated,” providing little more information. Later on Sunday, Dr. Bardack released a statement through the campaign explaining the nature of the former secretary of state’s ailment.
The statement said:
”Secretary Clinton has been experiencing a cough related to allergies. On Friday, during follow up evaluation of her prolonged cough, she was diagnosed with pneumonia.”
”She was put on antibiotics, and advised to rest and modify her schedule. While at this morning’s event, she became overheated and dehydrated. I have just examined her and she is now re-hydrated and recovering nicely.”
Hillary was set to travel to California this week to hold a couple of fundraisers as well as make an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ Show.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was at the ground zero event but has uncharacteristically, not commented on the issue.
His campaign has long insisted that Secretary Clinton is hiding some sort of serious illness, making her unfit for commander-in-chief.
The first of the three presidential debates is scheduled for the 26th of September. This health scare will be ammunition for her white house rival.
