Anne Waiguru has been freed of the corruption accusation by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC). The agency said ex-Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru is not corrupt as far the ongoing investigation is concerned.
The anti-corruption agency, as well as the police, have been probing the allegedly missing Sh791 million and conspiracy to stow away Sh695 million.
The Police had asked for some people to be charged, including Anne. But the ant-graft agency says no reliable proof ropes in Waiguru and on that account she is not to be prosecuted.
Nandi Hills Member of Parliament Alfred Keter has slammed the ruling coalition by claiming that the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission is at work for the State House
Addressing a press conference at Parliament buildings on Monday, February 8, the MP lashed at the way in which the anti-graft body handled the Anne Waiguru corruption allegation. The MP known to often criticize Jubilee says the commission is manipulated by State House.
The MP said the whole process was planned to clear Waiguru’s name even after it emerged that the National Youth Service (NYS) project was used to steal millions of shillings from Kenyans.
Why has the probe on Waiguru’s file been finished faster than those of the 175 officials who were alleged to be corrupt?
The EACC is a collapsed institution. I will make a petition to recall the officials for fresh vetting.
EACC CEO Halakhe Waqo’s letter dated February 4, 2016, says the commission had looked into allegations linking NYS and the Ministry of Devolution.
Ms Waiguru thanked her creator and acknowledges the fact that the truth has been made public:
I am extremely excited and grateful to God. The truth has finally come out against all the accusations that have been there since this matter came out.”
I am out of town but I can tell you it is a relief for me and my family who has seen pain throughout trying times. It is a good thing to happen,”
It is still uncertain if DPP has been informed by the commission to endorse the closure, given that only DPP can end the probe.
Waiguru resigned as Devolution Cabinet Secretary on November 22 as a result of the pressure concerning the NYS saga in which Sh791 million is said to have been stolen.
She said her resignation however was for health reason and asked the President to appoint her in an office with lighter duties in time to come.
With this recent development, the female politician may enjoy some public positions in future
Meanwhile, Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary, Anne Waiguru had charged two CORD senators, Sen. Johnson Muthama and Sen. Boni Khalwale to the courthouse on account of defamation.
Waiguru made the move on Wednesday through her lawyer Mohamed Nyaoga, stating that the two Senators described her, during a rally at the Uhuru Park in September 2015, as a public worker who used her office to embezzle public funds.
According to her report file, the senators had said things that could be taken to mean that the President Uhuru Kenyatta had given her some Sh25 billion, which was subsequently misappropriated.
