KTN has pulled the plug on Jeff Koinange Live following public outcry about the host and how he handled issues in a particular episode.
The show’s host, Jeff Koinange, announced on Thursday, November 24 that the show was coming to an end.
He also took the opportunity to apologize to viewers about the events that took place on his show between Miguna Miguna and Esther Passaris, which led to public condemnation.
”Anyone who felt offended by the show between the two personalities should understand that its hard to control a live show but I apologize to anyone who felt aggrieved.”
The two Nairobi gubernatorial aspirants were invited to the show to debate their visions and policies for Kenya’s capital city.
The supposed policy debate soon went sideways as Miguna Miguna launched a verbal attack on Esther Passaris. The insults continued off air with Raila Odinga’s former advisor making rape comments and using racial slurs.
The events transpired as the moderator cheered with his trademark fire extinguisher without intervening, which prompted various criticism.
Gender CS Sicily Kariuki, among others, condemned Mr Koinange, calling for some type of punishment for him or the show while demanding the episode be pulled down.
On the last show, Jeff hosted gospel singer Emmy Koigei and Sinach, where at the end of the show, he made his announcement.
”… this will be the final Jeff Koinange Live right here on KTN,” he said.
”Thank you Kenya, 300 episodes and 10 million viewers for every episode is inspiring. We appreciate you. We will be back on another channel and will be bigger,” he added.
