On Friday, Machakos Deputy Governor announced the missing of his daughter claiming that some gangsters captured her.
Benard Kiala who recorded a statement at a Nairobi police station also said the kidnappers are demanding for the odd.
The statements indicate that the kidnappers are political as they demanded that the Wiper leader should drop his bid for Machakos gubernatorial seat which he had expressed interest in. They called his wife to make the non-financial demand.
“They want me to drop my gubernatorial ambition. I can’t talk much now but I will forward you the text sent to my wife this morning,” he disclosed.
By Kiala’s statement, the message from the kidnappers stated: “We have your daughter alive. We will release her but tell you husband if he runs for governor it will not be the first attempt”.
Buzzkenya could not immediately establish the authenticity of the entire claim. But the captors had freed the victim who is said to be a university student.
There are reports that Mr. Kiala has been quarreling with his boss, Governor Alfred Mutua. The quarrel got to a point where he threatened to drop Kiala as his deputy, a move that backfired.
As a consequence, he made known his interest in the gubernatorial position and is supposed to be among other politicians in the race to replace Mutua’s seat. Mutua, on the other hand, has left Wiper and formed Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement.
Mutua who has been receiving praises for his successful development projects has vowed to retain his seat on a Maendeleo ticket.
