Videos of people singing while driving has become a must do for social media users over the past year thanks to video sharing platforms like Instagram.
A man driving in heavy rain at 70mph found that it could be distracting not to pay full attention to the road ahead.
The driver/singer identified as Travis Carpenter had been filming himself singing on what he called a routine journey before his car slid uncontrollably on the wet surface, spinning off the road.
Travis uploaded the video to his YouTube channel saying he practices singing while driving as a way to pass time and usually recorded it. He this time captured something much more terrifying.
“I was traveling from Indianapolis to Whitewater. I was going 70mph (speed limit) on I65 north. At this point, I was practicing a nasal type voice on a Casting Crowns song when the crash happened.
“I was watching the road and saw nothing that caused me to worry. Simply hydroplaned in a heavy rain. My car slid sideways, and then was completely backwards by the time I slid off the road and went down a small hill.”

Thankfully Travis sustained no visible injuries but the look on his face as the incident occurred will tell you he was very frightened.
He says his car had no mechanic fault but the damage to the body will surely part him away with several hundreds of dollars.
The lesson to learn is to pay attention to the road at all times and not cameras or mobile devices and not driving fast under the rain.
