A life long red devils super fan died just 45 minutes after Manchester United stars grant him his last wish.
First team stars Jesse Lingard, Ashley Young, Marcus Rashford and Timothy Fosu-Mensah paid Paddy Lawler a visit thanks to his granddaughter who made an appeal on social media.
Kayleigh Lawler wrote on Facebook about her grandfather being a ”massive Man United fan” and would be a ”happy man if I can get his last wish”.
The players were made aware of the post by a relative of one of the players and they quickly made way to the 73 year old’s house.
The boys signed autographs and posed for photos while telling stories about the Manchester United dressing room.
Miss Lawler spoke to the Sun afterwards saying ”Grandad was a massive Manchester United fan and the visit meant the world to him.”
She asked him in passing what his dying wish was before he widely wished to meet some Man United players. She expressed her excitement saying
”We couldn’t believe they took the time to make a dying man’s wish come true. They didn’t have to visit a man on his deathbed, it was an incredibly selfless thing to do. He died just 45 minutes after they left and we’re convinced he held on just to see them.”
His widow, Eunice, added that the young men were so nice to go through all that trouble. She showed her delight knowing that her husband died a happy man.
Mr Lawler, a grandfather of 13 lost his four-year battle with prostate cancer less than an hour after the players left the family home.
His favorite Manchester United players were Ryan Giggs and George Best.
