Marsabit Central OCPD Abel Sande was found dead on the evening of Christmas Day in his house in Marsabit town.
Eastern region police commander Gideon Amalla said he had not been answering calls prompting a check by the station commander. He said he was found dead in his bed.
A postmortem will be carried out but officers who did not want to be named said they suspected a heart attack.
Sande had served as OCPD for just a month. He had worked in BOmet in the same capacity before the transfer.
He was moved to Marsabit following complaints that he was biased.
NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 26 – A probe is underway to find out the cause of death of the Marsabit Central Police Chief Abel Sande.
According to the Eastern regional Police Commander Gideon Amalla, Sande was found dead on Sunday evening in his house in Marsabit Town.
Amalla stated that it is not clear what caused the death but officials suspect a heart attack.
“He had failed to pick his calls and when the station commander went to check his house he found him dead in his bed,” he said.
He stated that a post-mortem is scheduled to be conducted to establish the cause of the death.
He revealed that the late police boss had served at his current station for just one month.
Before joining Marsabit Central Police station as the OCPD, he served in Bomet for over two years in the same capacity.
