Education CS Fred Matiangi has rubbished allegations that the education ministry manipulated and fabricated the 2016 KCSE results.
The CS, who looked frustrated with the allegation, was responding to the manipulated KCSE results claim made by KNUT secretary-general Wilson Sossion.
Mr. Sossion called the whole examination process ”stage-managed” and termed it as the ”biggest genocide of children” ever seen.
CS Matiangi indirectly referred to the trade boss as a prophet of doom as he spoke during his address to beneficiaries of the Wings to Fly sponsorship program in Nairobi on Monday.
“Prophets of doom won’t stop us from leveling the ground for all children no matter their tribe and region,” said CS Matiangi.
”We will not be distracted by prophets of doom who want us to return to the past. Teachers did a splendid job in supervising and marking exams. The Ministry of Education will not be distracted to go back to exam cheating where the rich used to steal exams. We will be firm in exam administration,” he added.
Wilson Sossion had pointed out what he called discrepancies in the results that did not reflect students’ performance. He also faulted the time frame in which the manipulated KCSE results were released.
He said he pointed it out to the ministry which they ignored and so far have not responded to, therefore, demanding a forensic audit by an international organization to prove him right.
The Cabinet Secretary, however, reiterated that the examination was credible saying that when he spoke in public, he spoke in front of God.
He also assured parents that the pupils who did well are the ones attending the best schools in Kenya.
