On February 21, 2015 – a Prime Minister Raila Odinga was reduced to zero and made worthless. So, as for now the former Prime Minister is a normal citizen like you and me. This was done after he was deprived of his Diplomatic Passport, and nearly a year after, his VIP status at Kenyan airports and seaports was withdrawn.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, through the Joseph Nkaisery – led Ministry of Interior and National Government Coordination, Immigration Department, deprived Raila of his only remaining privilege from being former Prime Minister and equal partner to ex-President Mwai Kibaki in the Grand Coalition Government.
The new development therefore implies that the former PM is now raiyaa and will pass through the normal checks at the airport, which include screening or searching for explosives, drugs or other contraband and will have to queue like the rest of Kenyan people without any exemption privileges. No more VIP treatment for him or stepping near the Vip lounge.
Meanwhile this happened not up to a year after he was stripped off of his VIP treatment at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) forcing the Opposition party to cry out bitterly to Uhuru/ Ruto to pardon him if he had stepped on their right toes and to revert his VIP status since it was the only thing he could boast of after he had failed in the 2013 General Election. But their plea was not granted.
Additionally, others who once held high offices including Governors, Senators and Mps were also stripped off their Diplomatic Passports.. Do you think this is fair?
