Cornel Rasanga recently urged all CORD governors to do away with all the portraits of President Uhuru Kenyatta hanging in their various offices and replace it with that of Raila Odinga.
Rasanga claims the move will be a good way of showing due honour to CORD leadership. He called on all the 24 governors respond positively to the call and show their support and loyalty to CORD Raila Odinga.
According to the Siaya governor, devolution Principal Secretary Josephta Mukobe has seen Raila’s portrait in his office during his visit last Week.
In his words:
I am told that the PS informed other people that in Rasanga’s office you will only find his portrait and Raila’s alone.
Speaking at a joint memorial service of the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and Fidel Odinga which took place at the Jaramogi University grounds in Bondo on Saturday, Rasanga made the following statements.
We only need to hang our portraits as Governors and that of Raila in our offices. The other one (President Uhuru Kenyatta’s) we don’t need.
He challenged the governors to follow in his footsteps of courageousness. He told them that only the fearless and the brave can take bold steps.
You remember it is only me of all the Governors in the Country who declared a public holiday when we launched our Okoa Kenya drive. The matter went to the Senate and Orengo (Siaya Senator) defended it as lawful.
Rasanga also begged the CORD Governors during the occasion to provide the funds required for ID and voter registration, bringing to mind that through mass voter registration, Coalition will win the seat of power in 2017.
Some of the people present at the time Cornel Rasanga made the statements were, CORD principals Raila Odinga, Moses Wetang’ula and Martha Karua, among other leaders.
