Ruth Wanjiru Kamanda, aged 21, is currently facing murder charges for stabbing boyfriend to death.
She is currently being held in remand at the prison in Langata where she has been crowned Miss Langata Prison 2016.
She was accused of stabbing her boyfriend, Farid Mohammed, in Buru-Buru after finding love messages from another woman on his mobile phone back in 2014.
Kamanda stabbed Mohammed 21 times on the chest, stomach, neck, back and face.
The landlord, Mr Ndwiga Gatimu, said that he heard Mohammed crying for help and went to check what was happening.
He claims to have seen Ruth walking around in the house as he knocked on the door. She refused to open the door, prompting him to call the police who then forced the door open.
The police found blood stains in the sitting room and the deceased lying on his bed in the bedroom in a pool of blood.
Mohammed died in hospital while undergoing treatment for the multiple stab wounds.
According to a source, Ruth found love messages on the deceased’s mobile phone and confronted him.
He denied knowing who the sender was which led to an argument between the two before she picked up a knife and stabbed him severally.
The beauty pageant which was held yesterday, featured performances from local artist Avril Nyambura.
Ruth beat 19 other contestants to win the annual event.
Tina Martin, a Tanzanian who is being held for a drug related crime emerged first runner up.
The second runner up position went to Susan Wairimu. She is in prison for her participation in a robbery and murder-related crime.
