A teacher’s aide in Gainesville, Georgia, was fired after she likened Michelle Obama to a gorilla on a Facebook post.
Jane Wood Allen, a 27 year veteran of the Forsyth County School district was a teacher’s aide at Chestatee Elementary School in Gainesville, Georgia.
The post, which got the teacher talking, featured a conservative news article about the First Lady taking vacations.
“This poor Gorilla. How is she going to function in the real world, by not having all of her luxurious vacations paid for anymore?”
In another post regarding an August article about Mrs Obama being one of the most admired women in the world, Allen wrote ”I admire a gorilla more that I admire her. (Wait I forgot, she is a gorilla)!”
Jane has a history of racist commentary on Facebook. Her use of derogatory terms to describe Hispanic, Muslim and Black people is usually cheered by people of her ilk in the comments.
Her comments caused a stir on Facebook – which has deleted her profile – with users calling her racist and questioning her ability to teach children.
The Forsyth School District released a statement via their spokeswoman Jennifer Caracciolo saying;
“Effective Monday, October 3, 2016, Jane Wood Allen has been relieved from duty and is no longer an employee of Forsyth County Schools.”
“Racism and discrimination are not tolerated in our school district. We are committed to ongoing staff training on the acceptance of all individuals.”
