A tour guide at Maasai Mara National Reserve in Narok County on Monday night attacked a Chinese couple with a sharp knife, stabbing the duo for using a dining table.
Reports say the escort was angry that the tourists were basking at a dining table which he termed as his favourite spot.
Due to this reason, the furious tour guide stabbed the couple, murdering the woman while injuring her husband.
Following the attack, fear gripped 100 other tourists at the Keekorok Lodge who were dining at the eatery while they witnessed the whole scene unfold.
A police officer who confirmed the incident disclosed: “He told them that he could not use any other table and they had to leave and when they refused, he started attacking them using a knife that he was carrying”.
Narok County Police Commander Jillo Galgalo also stated that woman’s husband was on Tuesday morning airlifted to Nairobi Hospital.
The attacker has been arrested and is currently being detained at the Narok Police Station. The deadly attack at the popular site in the county may again affect the country’s tourism industry.

While this single attack by one man may not lead to a “massive reduction” in tourism in the entire country, there is need to end repetition of such incident.
