Two MPs have disposed of Opposition ODM for the Leading Party. The reason for the sudden deflection in their words is to hunt for a party that shares the same interests with them.
Tigania East MP, Mpuru Aburi, and his Mathare counterpart, Stephen Kariuki, both of who are ODM members, pledged their loyalty to President Uhuru Kenyatta. They pledged their support to the president, and stated they were ready to be kicked out of the CORD party if the opposition party decided to take that action against them.
Mr Aburi revealed he has been backing ODM chief, Raila Odinga, from when he was a young boy. According to him, he now wants to get rid of the party and move on with a party that shares the same dream with him, as a man.
In the words of Mr. Aburi
I told Raila Odinga that I supported him in 2013, but he should not expect me to be on his bandwagon. Let him know that in 2017, I will be in Jubilee alongside President Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri among others.
In a statement during Mr Kiunjuri’s homecoming ceremony at Nanyuki Stadium – an event Uhuru honoured – the leaders lauded the Jubilee administration. They further expressed their gratitude for the party’s leadership and for introducing development projects.
They both railed at the opposition for indulging in propaganda just to tarnish the image of Jubilee administration. Mr Kariuki hinted that the administration has spread its developmental tentacles across the country to include constituencies of the opposition party.
He cited his constituency where he, as an opposition, heads but has gained from Jubilee some developmental initiative. In confidence and boldness, the Mp said he awaits the wrath of his party members and even ejection from House committees as the Opposition always does to rebel MPs.
Kiunjuri also noted that the Opposition was intimidating Cabinet secretaries, but will end at achieving nothing from it. He said:
I am now the conductor of a bus that is poaching opposition MPs and I cannot be a conductor and still remain in the Opposition. I cannot remain in a party where people only make noise without anything to show to the electorate,” .
