Uk’s most married man record holder is set to embark on his ninth marital journey to a girl forty-two years younger.
Ron Sheppard, 68, a great grandad and hopeless romantic who suffers from Parkinson disease is looking to keep his record going as he reunited with his bride to be.
The reunion at London’s Heathrow airport was the first time the pair had seen each other since Ron asked Cristel Marquez to marry him 11 months ago in the Philipines.
”Make no mistake about it, Cristel will be my forever wife. This one is real love. This is the last one – I promise,” said a frail Ron.
The pair met when Ron lived in Thailand with his wife number seven. Cristel and his wife were friends and the three often socialized together.
When the marriage ended, he lost contact with Cristel and moved back to England but they later found each other on Facebook as the eight marriage was dying.
The romance quickly blossomed, prompting Ron to jet off to the Phillipines to spend Christmas with her and her family. On New Year’s Eve, Ron proposed to her.
”At first I didn’t know what came over me when I proposed. I’ll be honest, I thought it may have been my medication,” Ron said.
”But then I realised what had happened was I had fallen deeply in love with this girl who had shown me so much care and humility when I was at my lowest ebb.”
”I just knew in an instant she was the one I’d been looking for and, married or not, I was going to propose.”
Many people as you are probably doing right now have questioned Cristel’s feelings for a 68-year-old most married man with serious health problems.
She is however unfazed by all that saying; ”I know what it looks like but I am not here for a passport. I am not here to take advantage of Ron.”
”The age difference means nothing to me. All I want to do is take care of him. And that it is what I am going to do.”
UK’s most married man has been married for 44 of the past 47 years. Cristel certainly hopes this will be his last as she aims to settle down well in the UK.
