The world’s fastest sprinter and seven time Olympic champion, Usain Bolt has got people talking yet again.
This time it is not because of his athletic prowess or the numerous records broken and standards set by the 6 ft 5 inches Jamaican, but for his demonstration of respect towards the national anthem of another country.
The Jamaican sprinter paused his interview with Television Espanola reporter to honor the star spangled banner anthem during a medal award ceremony.

His display of respect for the United States anthem comes days after one of America’s stars at the Olympic games was embroiled in a controversy around the national anthem. Gabby Douglas, the first African-American woman in history to win the individual all-around gold medal was accused of displaying lack of patriotism during a medal award ceremony.
She was the only team member not to place her hand on her heart as the American national anthem was played at the medal ceremony. It was assumed that her reaction was as a result of missing out on individual glory.
Meanwhile, the holder of the world records in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay categories is hoping to complete his defense of all titles and entrench his name in Olympic history as the greatest sprinter of all time.
He is also hoping to break his world record in the 200m event by dipping under the 19 second mark. The fastest man who is behind the memes in circulation of him smiling across the finish line said a good night’s rest after the semi-finals can get him ready for the race. He is hoping to leave it all on the track and do his possible best.
