Businessman Chris Kirubi has dropped over Sh40 million, including taxes, on the 2016 Mercedes-Maybach Benz – making him the first to own the ride in Kenya.
Well, there is no doubt that DJ C.K is the richest DJ in Kenya, so it really should not surprise us that he could afford a car worth so much. But seriously though, as Director at Centum Investment Company Limited, a business conglomerate in which he is the largest individual shareholder, he can afford to pamper himself with the best car.
Kirubi’s luxury car, which is predominately used by elites and leaders in Europe, is parked at the DT Dobie workshop in Industrial area, Nairobi.
The 2016 Mercedes-Maybach Benz S Class comes with two types of engines: the V8 and V12 with 4 MATIC. The car is opulent and comfortable. The reviews show that the V12 can produce a force of 830 NM in 1900 revolutions every minute, given a displacement of 5980cc. It has a power output of 530 KW.
The car can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in five seconds only with a top speed of 250km/h. The fuel consumption is a bit minimal as it uses as low as 8.9 litres for 100km covered. The Maybach is 5,453 mm long with a wheel base of 3,365mm.
The car also has the magic body control which uses the stereo-multipurpose camera of intelligent drive to continually scan the road surface for variations, preparing the suspension to take action before the wheels reach them.
All the Maybach’s stretch translates into additional legroom for the two occupants in the back, who are seated in thrones that look as if they were pulled from an executive jet.
The car has separate power controls, pillow-style headrests, extendable legrests, and a perfectly coddling shape, which makes napping as comfortable as it would be in any bed in your house. Six-footers won’t be able to tap the front seatbacks with their feet.
Again, the rear-seat comfort package is insanely comfortable and a hot-stone-massage system is included. It’s the best thing you can touch in automobiledom.
Kirubi is a farmer and a business mogul with interests in diverse sectors including the media and air transport. He has shares at national carrier Kenya Airways. His company, Centum Investment Company Limited is currently building a mall in Nairobi.
The mall is being constructed on 10.2 acres of land which is part of the expansive 102-acre mixed-use real estate project in the diplomatic blue zone, with in the upmarket Runda and Gigiri.
Centum estimates the ongoing shopping mall construction at its mega Two Rivers Development project at close to Sh13 billion, underscoring the growing interest in retail space.
