Deputy president William Ruto has finally responded to the allegations that he masterminded the killing of businessman Jacob Juma.
The deputy president in a statement to newsrooms, said the claims are not only forged and frivolous but serve to ruin his reputation as well as the office of the deputy president. Responding to Cyprus’s slap comment, the deputy disclosed categorically that he has never exchanged fists with the late billionaire or engaged in anything of the sort.
He also threatened to take legal action against former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo who earlier pointed a finger at him as a possible suspect. William Ruto’s legal team is reportedly studying claims made by one of the deputy president’s ex-ally which ropes him into the murder of businessman Jacob Juma.
Based on the statement from Ruto’s lawyers.
“I have never had any physical contact with the late Jacob Juma and allegations that the deceased slapped me could therefore never have arisen.”
The DP’s lawyers have said the intention is to sue Cyrus Jirongo for claiming that William Ruto killed the businessman. Cyprus Jirongo stated during Jacob Juma’s requiem mass in Nairobi on Thursday, May 12, that the police should not pretend that they don’t know the actual killer of the businessman.
The politician who had worked closely with Ruto as KANU Youth wingers in the early 90s further said Jacob Juma once slapped William Ruto and demanded that investigations needs to begin from there.
“..If the Inspector General of Police is sincere, Jacob Juma slapped William Ruto some time back. That is where investigations should start.”
He went ahead to opine that the very people who murdered an ICC witness against William Ruto by the name Meshack Yebei in 2014 were the ones who swept off Jacob Juma. Ruto’s legal team however had problems with the insinuation that her client murdered Meshack Yebei and would also file the case separately.
Cyrus Jirongo becomes the second politician after Ali Hassan Joho to make direct comments that point to Ruto as the murderer. The Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho had on May 5 said that all the people who Jacob Juma had listed as scheming to have him killed should be investigated.
He urged the police to probe William Ruto for the death of the controversial businessman.
