Several dismembered body parts belonging to an unknown woman were found tucked in a plastic bag in Nairobi’s Umoja Estate.
The unpleasant discovery was made by police when locals called them after noticing something suspicious in the area. When the police arrived the scene, law enforcement officers discovered the garbage bag and its gruesome contents – body parts.
The body parts were neatly packed, including the woman’s hands and legs. The bag was found in a thicket near Fadhili Primary School.
Police, however, said they didn’t find the woman’s torso when they discovered the dismembered foot and another unidentified body part of the woman.
Buruburu DCI Jeremiah Ikiao who confirmed the incident said that they were called to the scene by locals complaining of a stench in the area. The locals suggested that the woman could have been killed somewhere else and the body dumped in the area.
Police suspect that the victim was murdered in a nearby house a few days ago and stored in a refrigerator before her chopped body parts were dumped.
“From the look of things, the killer or killers must have used a hacksaw or a very sharp object,” a senior police officer at the Buruburu Police Station.
Ikiao also revealed that no suspect had been arrested as of yet and urged the public to also volunteer any information they have to help in the investigations.
Authorities are still investigating the cause and manner of death using the dismembered body parts. Also, the security team is making efforts to unveil the identity of the victim.
Investigators have taken the fingerprints of the woman. The remains have been deposited at a mortuary as investigations into the incident continues.
