Father’s day was about to turn sour for a 13-year-old girl in Kaila Village, Seme in Kisimu County when an armed robber visited their home and attempted to shoot her dad. However, the brave teenage girl was not about to let that happen as she rose even so well to the occasion.
The robber entered the house at about 9.30 pm and pointed a gun at her father who was in the living room. She noticed the man from the kitchen and immediately launched at him before he could pull the trigger.
Together with her dad, both were able to collect the firearm from the burglar. The thief quickly made his way out of the house without the weapon.
Immediately after the thief got away, the brave girl’s dad alerted police who came to their home to retrieve the firearm.
“The father joined in the tussle to try and snatch the firearm from the burglar. Once overpowered, the dropped the firearm and escaped,” Mohammed Maalim Kisimu County Commissioner said.
Maalim said that the identities of the brave teenage girl and her father would remain concealed for security reasons.
However, they revealed that the gun was police property which was stolen way back in 2015. Malim said the gun was probably stolen from administration police camps in the area.
Police have also begun a search for the suspect who is currently on the run.
