The final days of the iconic Hollywood stars Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher came with emotional scenes which left everyone with dry less faces during the Golden Globe awards held at the Beverly Hilton in California, on Sunday.
The Golden Globe Award is an American accolade bestowed by the 93 members of the Hollywood Press Association recognizing excellence in film and television both domestic and foreign.
Every year, the Golden Globe Awards honor multigenerational Hollywood families by naming a daughter from an entertainment family as Miss. Golden Globe.
And while Carrie Fisher was never named Miss Golden Globes, her half-sister Joely Fisher was named miss Golden Globes. Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds were a great example of Hollywood families.
So it made sense that the show would break its “no-memorial-segment” rule to honor Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, who died a day apart and were buried together on Friday.
The award show honored Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher with a special video tribute, looking back at their careers before their passing.
Host Jimmy Fallon introduced the segment during the show saying, “Sometimes we forget it’s actually a community. A community of families. This past year, we lost so many legends and icons.
But a few weeks ago, we lost a mother and a daughter within just a couple of days. It was a terrible loss that we all felt. Tonight, we would like to pay tribute to Debbie Reynolds and Carrie fisher .”
After seeing the tribute, Reynolds’ son and Fisher’s brother, Todd Fisher, took to Twitter to thank the Golden Globes for honoring them.
