Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula and his wife Ann marched to the Karen police station to report each other for assault.
The couple blame each other for being physically brutal at the police station. This is quite contrary to some cases we’ve seen lately where just the women or neigbours head to police. Or even where just the women sustain severe injuries.
Anyway, Wetang’ula’s wife made her own report to the police station on February 21 and said her husband assaulted her three days earlier .
Part of the Langata Police document aired by a local TV station states thus,
Ann Wetang’ula, a resident of Karen, came to the station at around 11.50am and reported that on 18th February 2016, she was assaulted by her husband Hon Moses Wetang’ula, for Bungoma County.
She also complained of having sustained injuries on both hands, chest and legs. The report added that she received treatment at the Karen Hospital afterwards and is currently discharged.
In a shocking turn of event, Wetang’ula reported to the same police station on the same day at around 6.30pm to make his own statement against his wife.
The senator told police that he too had been assaulted by his wife at their Karen home. The Cord co-principal also said that he is currently recovering from multiple injuries he suffered when his wife assaulted him.
He said his wife came home behaving unseemly, accusing him of being unfaithful. And at that moment, his wife “became furious and attacked” him, leaving him with “…injuries on the head, left hand, left leg and the chest.” The senator revealed he had been treated at the same hospital with his wife.
He was later issued with a P3 form.
The police report titled, RE: Alleged Assault Involving a VIP Vide Langata OB41/21/2/2016 and OB 18/21/2/2016 by the Divisional Criminal Investigation Officer (DCIO) Karen states;
Hon Moses Wetang’ula, a resident of Mahungu Court along Karabon Road in Nairobi, came to the station and reported having been assaulted by his wife on February 18, 2016 at around 9:30pm at their home in Karen.
He said he had been accused by his wife Ann of infidelity. That is when, according to him, his wife became furious and attacked him. As a result, he said he sustained injuries on his head, left hand, left leg. He was treated at Karen hospital and issued with a P3 form.
Police are currently looking into the case filed by Mr Wetangula, who claims to have sustained physical impairment during the attack that took place in the couple’s home – an expensive estate located in Nairobi.
