Republican Party candidate Donald J. Trump has been elected 45th President of the United States of America.

The billionaire businessman beat former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who was the popular candidate aiming to be the first female president.

Donald J Trump’s victory will send shock waves around the world as he will be the first United States President to have no prior political nor military experience.

He has rather managed successful businesses around the world and starred on reality TV.

The polls predicted a victory for Hillary Clinton prior to the election but losses in battleground states such as Florida and Ohio compounded by an FBI investigation gave the GOP candidate a base for victory.

Clinton’s healthy lead first plunged when FBI Director James Comey opened up the suspended private email server case against the Secretary of State with just 11 days to the election.

He wrote to congress saying new evidence was found but sent a second letter to Congress on Sunday re-confirming that no case will be made against Clinton.

The damage seemed to have already been done as Clinton’s double-digit lead in crucial states came down to within the margin of error.

Hillary Clinton conceded to Donald J Trump in the early hours of Wednesday morning after he passed the necessary 270 electoral votes.

Speaking at a victory party in New York, the 45th President elect was uncharacteristically gracious towards his opponent, thanking her for his service and calling for unity.

“We owe (Clinton) a very major debt of gratitude to her for her service to our country,” Trump said.

”Now it’s time for America to bind the wounds of division and get together. It is time for us to come together as one united people. I pledge to very citizen of our land that I will be president for all Americans,” he added.
