EACC Reopens Waiguru File In The Sh791 NYS Fraud After Josephine Kabura Affidavit

Following the recent Affidavit from Josephine Kabura, that implicated Waiguru in the NYS fraud, the EACC has reopened the case file.

Earlier today, Alfred Keter urged the government to dissolve EACC secretariat for failing to properly investigate the Sh791 million NYS scam and for somehow being involved in the NYS crime.

The Nandi Hills MP thundered against the secretariat, accusing it of facilitating the alleged transfer of Integrity Centre, that is, home to EACC’s headquarters in Nairobi, “to people closely linked with members.”

In response to those comment and heightened suspicion, the EACC has started a new investigation into the Sh791 million NYS scam following an affidavit that says former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru masterminded the whole deal.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission said all persons of interest will be summoned to assist with the investigations.

In a statement, Kairichi Mariba, Head of Corporate Communications said:

We have started a fresh probe on the allegations in the affidavit. We shall be summoning Josephine Kabura and other persons mentioned before forwarding recommendations to the DPP.

Kabura, the woman whose account the millions involved in NYS scandal was deposited, presented in court on Monday, an affidavit describing her alleged relationship with Waiguru, whom Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter wants charged and punished.

Kabura made several damning revelations including accusing Waiguru of helping her in securing several government contracts other than the NYS linked scam, with about 30 LPOs for her other companies, at NYS, with a value in excess of Sh400 million.

She also disclosed the enormous delivery of “Sh10 million she had made to Waiguru’s house in Runda on August 26, 2015”, which she was later told would be used to cover up the crime.

Waiguru dismissed her as a “crazy woman” whom she has never met, and came to know about only after the scandal broke.

In a confidential letter dated February 4, 2015, to Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua, the EACC cleared Waiguru of any wrongdoing in relation to the scandal.
