Within three days, about five people have allegedly been kidnapped and killed along the Bondo-Kisumu road with the most recent case taking place on Wednesday.
The kidnappers are allegedly targeting Probox drivers, as most of the victims owned a Probox at the time they got missing.
The body of a middle-aged man was found without head on Wednesday. The body which was also severely mutilated was found in a thicket around Kombewa region. Police circled off the place as residents rushed to have glance at the horrific sight.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the gang carrying out the gruesome killings which have sent a wave of fear among residents and road users around that area.
Kidnapping crimes have risen lately in Bondo with most of the missing persons found without heads.
As a consequence, three people were killed On Thursday as police officers shot at some angry mob who tried to lynch on suspected abductors.
The three were rushed to Siaya Referral Hospital where they were confirmed dead. The sad incident took place when an angry crowd of people moved towards the police station, clamouring for some suspected kidnappers – who were spotted with a day old baby – to be dealt with.
The mob on realising they were not allowed to enter into the station began throwing stones at the police.
Police later named suspects as Alice Nyawino and Margaret Juma after they confirmed through the Siaya Sub County hospital that the baby indeed belonged to the suspects’ kin who died during delivery at the hospital.
Police have termed the incident as sad, cautioning anyone against attacking a police post, to avoid terrible aftermath.
The force also noted that kidnapping crimes have been on the hike in the region but warned the public against taking matters into their own hands.
