Kenya Election 2017: IEBC Job Vacancies, Facts You Need To Know

IEBC Job Vacancies 2017 – As the August 8 polls draw nearer by the day, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) looks to hire 359,958 temporary staff to oversee the polling units across the country.

The body made the announcement via a statement saying; “In preparation for the August 2017 Elections, the Commission invites qualified applicants for temporary positions to be engaged during the 2017 general elections.”

IEBC Job Vacancies: Position, Duration Salary

Presiding and Deputy Presiding Officers

The IEBC is looking for 91,032 people to fill this position. The presiding officer role will last for 13 days with a salary of Sh2,000 per day, bringing the staff total income to Sh 26,000. The deputy presiding officer role will also last for 13 days but with a salary of Sh 1,800 per day, bringing the total income to Sh23,400.

Requirements for the presiding and deputy presiding officer position includes a degree or diploma in any field. Applicant must have basic computer skills and must be a resident of the constituency for which they are applying for.

ICT Clerks

580 The ICT Clerks are to be employed. Applicants should have not less than a diploma in information technology (IT) as well as a 2-year working experience in a busy environment. That is, must have the ability to work under pressure. Each will be paid Sh1,500 daily for 30 days.

Deputy Returning Officer

Number Needed is 290. The job will last for 60 days with a daily pay of Sh3,000 bringing the total income to Sh180,000. In addition to either having a degree or diploma, applicants should have not less than 6 years working experience in the private or public sector at the supervisory level.

They MUST have no political affiliation and should be willing to work anywhere in Kenya. They should also be a resident of the ward for which they are applying.

Ward-based Educators

2,900 ward-based educators are wanted to fill the nation’s 1450 wards at two persons per ward. The ward-based educators are required to have not less than a diploma in project management or education.

They should have “exceptional understanding of the socio-cultural, economic and political dynamics of the ward.” A three-year experience in community mobilisation and voter education will be an added advantage.

Polling/Counting Clerks

The number of people wanted to fill this position is 262,665. The job duration is 9 days with a salary of Sh1,000 paid per day per day. Applicants must have an aggregate score of C or above in their KSCE. Like the presiding officers, they must be a resident of the ward they are applying for.

Logistic Officers

337 logistic officers are needed. The job duration is 30 days with a daily stipend of Sh3,000. Requirements include a degree or diploma, good knowledge of logistics retrieval and distribution of materials. Must also be computer literate with ability to use the Microsoft Office packages.

Electoral Trainers

5, 054 electoral trainers are wanted. The job duration is 15 days with a daily salary of Sh2,000. They should have a degree or diploma in social science.
