An old-timer in Kenya’s comedy industry, John Kiarie, has finally confirmed that he has deflected from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to join forces with Jubilee.
John Kiarie made this revelation when he was addressing the media on Wednesday. The comedian hinted that he had been in love with the way Jubilee party runs its administration.
He precisely commented on the government’s agenda for the youth and also for granting him the chance to have been working with the ruling coalition since 2013.
The comedian indicated that he would be contesting to win the seat of Dagoretti South parliamentary under a Jubilee affiliated party ticket in the next election.
He also nodded to the recent plan of combining all parties in the Jubilee coalition to become one political force in next year’s General Election.
John Kiarie noted that his present task for now is to get people to register as voters in the ongoing campaign by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
To him, it is more important to let people know his political intention as well as getting more people to register than making any fuss about the party he plans to join.
In the past, the former ODM proponent stirred controversies when he shared on social media his intention to vie for the seat, with some alleging that he was not a native of the constituency.
However, Kiarie slammed the lies and claims he has been living in the area, calling it his home.
Mr Kiarie had planned to contest for the Dagoretti South parliamentary seat under ODM during the 2013 elections. But his plans flopped when he didn’t win the party’s primaries, losing it to incumbent Simba Arati. We hope he wins this time around!
