A Form One student in Baringo has been charged with attempting to write KCPE for a candidate.
The incident happened at the Kimalel Day and Boarding Primary School on Wednesday, where Dennis Rotich, the arrested student from Kapng’etuny Secondary School, was spotted entering the examination hall through the window.
Headteacher Kipkosiom Chepkerich said he saw the suspect jump in through the window and proceeded to investigate why.
“An inspection showed he was sitting on a desk belonging to candidate Chemoiwo Kiprop Victor, of index no.33558110070, who was absent,” said Chepkerich.
The headteacher immediately notified the police manning the tests who apprehended the suspect.
The fifteen-year-old was arraigned on Thursday after spending the night at Marigat police station.
Meanwhile, Mukutani Primary School which was attacked by bandits in March had its students writing their exams at Marigat Primary School in Baringo South.
More than 300 pupils were displaced by such attacks early this year. The government provided food for the 38 pupils during the examinations.

In a separate incident elsewhere, a class eight pupil was forced to sit her KCPE in a police station after skipping it to be with her lover.
The girl, a KCPE candidate at Ndhiwa Primary School in Homa Bay County whose identity has been kept a secret, is believed to have boycotted her Kiswahili and Science tests on Wednesday after having written her Tuesday papers.
Homa Bay County OCPD Nixon Makokha said the police were informed of the girl’s absence after the school administration reported her missing.
“The information we have is that the girl skipped the exams to elope with her lover. We are investigating the matter to establish why the girl decided to skip some exams,” said the OCPD.
