Nairobi Gubernatorial Debate

The Nairobi Gubernatorial debate went down last night and it was, as anticipated, a thrilling one marked by drama and constant jabs.

Stealing the show was the ever articulate Miguna Miguna who seemed the most prepared of all 4 gubernatorial candidates.

Miguna had answers to every question thrown his way and indeed, he knocked his opponents off balance. Simply put, it was a KO.

If talk was all it took, Miguna could have well be named the next governor of the nation’s capital.

The KTN-hosted Nairobi Gubernatorial debate brought together incumbent Evans Kidero, Senator Mike Sonko, Miguna Miguna and Peter Kenneth.

However, another aspirant Kamau Macharia was blocked from participating. In other news, Macharia has threatened to sue KTN parent Standard Media Group should he not receive an apology.

Topics discussed in the debate included job creation for the Kenyan youth, education and health. The candidates were also thrown the tricky question of what they would do should dey fail to clinch the city’s highest office.

As expected of debate, it was a word battle, with candidates throwing punch lines at each other.

Miguna said Mike Sonko is “clueless” and thinks that “revenue falls from heaven.”

He added that Sonko is mediocre and thus, the state should not be entrusted into his hands.

He also mentioned Sonko’s criminal record citing his arrest by the Criminal Investigation Agency in 2009.

Sonko launched a retaliation at Miguna, calling him a madman with anger issues who used to break houses with his head.

“You used to break houses, I have evidence, remove the cap if you don’t have a deep panga cut on your head,” Sonko told Miguna.

Miguna also launched at Peter Kenneth saying that the former Gatanga MP had nothing to offer but beauty.

He also mentioned his academic performances, saying; “You are a failure you even got E in school. I can’t table your academic papers they are so bad to table anywhere.”

Incumbent Evans Kidero defended himself by first attacking Sonko. Referring to Sonko’s time in Shimo La Tewa prison Kidero said; “I have never been jailed; I have never escaped from any prison.”

The drama made for an entertaining show to Kenyans who were watching from home with their hands glued to their mobile devices as they shared their thoughts on each candidate.
