From pioneering technology to being a tout, here are reasons Bob could stake a claim to being the world’s best CEO.
Bob is one of the Kenya’s most recognised CEO – but it is not always about heading one of the biggest tech companies in the country.
Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore on Thursday dumped his official suit and tie regalia and headed to the streets to serve as a bus tout, leaving many in shock.
Mr Collymore was at Kencom Bus Station at the Central Business District (CBD) where he took up the work of the conductor. He made sure he filled up the bus and then paid the fare for every customer.
The passengers were so happy to see the Safaricom boss in person and some posed for a selfie with him for the awesome gesture.
An eye witness said “It pleasantly surprised me. There were many people at the park, so it was good to see him. It really was. It seemed like it something special happened to us.”
Another eye witness said “I really liked it. I enjoyed watching him scream for passengers, and I wished every rich man would be as humble and creative as him”.
“To see the surprise on people’s face when they get to meet him and see the crowd and everything, I was glad to be at the park at that moment.”
As part of the Christmas celebration, Safaricom employees were sent to different bus stops where they paid transport fares of lucky commuters in full.
The initiative, which is part of the festive gifts is dubbed under the hashtag #HomeIsWhereTheHeartIs, and has been centered on touching the lives of Kenyans in different aspects.
