Trump Claims Obama Ordered Wiretap Of Trump Tower

US President Donald Trump claims Obama ordered wiretap of his telephone lines at Trump Tower during last year’s election.

Trump, who has a history of attacking Obama starting from the birtherism claims of the former president being born in Kenya, now claims he ordered the wiretaping of Trump Towers during the elections but failed to provide evidence.

Trump made the allegation on Twitter on Saturday morning calling his predecessor a bad or sick guy.

He wrote:

”How low has Obama gone to tap my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!”

The President was tweeting from his Florida seaside resort, Mar-a-Lago, where he was scheduled to meet with Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly before a dinner with officials also including adviser Steve Bannon and White House Counsel Don McGahn.

However, Obama spokesman Kevin Lewis said a “cardinal rule” of the Obama administration was that no White House official ever interfered in any Justice Department investigations, which are supposed to be conducted free of political influence.

“As part of that practice, neither President Obama nor any White House official ever ordered surveillance on any U.S. citizen,” Lewis said, adding that “any suggestion otherwise is simply false.”

Other key figures who reacted to the ‘Obama ordered wiretap’ allegation said that US Presidents don’t have the power to tap someone’s phone and the claim was false.

Representative Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, called President Trump’s assertion a ”spectacularly reckless allegation”.

”If there is something bad or sick going on, it is the willingness of the nation’s chief executive to make the most outlandish and destructive claims without providing a scintilla of evidence to support them.”

This is certainly not the first time Trump has made unfounded and bizarre claims. With his administration facing lots of problems, Trump is probably looking to shift focus elsewhere by blaming and accusing Obama of heinous activities.
