Uhuru’s Nephew, Peter Kenneth’s Wife Kidnapped At Gunpoint

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s nephew, as well as the wife of 2013 presidential aspirant Peter Kenneth were separately kidnapped at gunpoint in the estate in Nairobi, on Saturday evening.

Uhuru’s kin, Njoroge Muigai, was abducted with his family including his wife and daughter from their home in Kyuna estate and dumped at an unknown location, 10KM away from their residence.

The robbers stripped the family of their car – a Volkswagen Tiguan – as well as cash and mobile phones before pushing them out of the car. Mr Kenneth’s wife, Ann Wanjiru, was also hijacked from the same estate and dumped in the same location as Uhuru’s kin.

Police say Ms Wanjiru was driving into her home along Kibarage Road in Spring Valley when some gunmen carjacked her. The gunmen pretended to be guards and suddenly held her at gunpoint. Preliminary investigations show that the robbers arrived early at the scene and captured guards before they changed into their uniforms and waited for Kenneth’s wife.

The gang took her to a nearby forest at 3am and zoomed off with her car, a Freelander, an unspecified amount of money and mobile phones.

Moments later she was dropped. Wanjiru crossed parts with Mr Muigai and his family looking for an escape route from the bush. She told them that she had been robbed and kidnapped in the same style at the estate.

Confirming the incident, Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome said the victims were only robbed of valuables but no one was hurt.

Koome also explained that early investigations had traced Wanjiru’s car to Uganda.

This is not the first time Uhuru’s relative is going through such ordeal. In 2014, President Kenyatta’s aunt was carjacked and robbed of cash and valuables before being dumped on the roadside in Nairobi.

Mrs Jean Njeri Muhoho, 56, was abducted along Uhuru Highway by three gunmen who drove her around the city for more than two hours before she was dumped along Northern by-pass near International School in Gigiri area.

The wife of former Kenya Airports Authority boss George Muhoho was with a 25 year old man when a gang of three forced their way into her Nissan Wingroad salon car at about 8.30 pm.
